Privacy Statement
Clear about what I collect and why.
Super Space Goose is the trading name of Ben Appleton, a New Zealand sole trader. This Privacy Statement explains what personal information I collect through this website, why I collect it, how it is used, and how I protect it.
I only collect personal information where it is reasonably necessary to operate the website, respond to enquiries, provide services, maintain website security, or send communications that you have chosen to receive.
1. Information I Collect
Depending on how you use the website, I may collect information including:
- Your name and business or organisation name.
- Your email address and other contact details you choose to provide.
- Information you include in a project enquiry or message.
- Business information relevant to an enquiry or project.
- Limited technical information such as your IP address, browser user-agent and server request information.
Most personal information is provided directly by you when you submit a form, contact me, subscribe to the newsletter, or engage Super Space Goose for a project.
2. Why I Collect It
I use personal information for purposes including:
- Responding to enquiries and discussing potential projects.
- Providing web development, graphic design, digital marketing or related services.
- Managing communication relating to an active project.
- Sending newsletters or updates where you have chosen to subscribe.
- Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the website.
- Protecting forms, sessions and restricted areas from spam, misuse or unauthorised access.
- Understanding basic website usage through limited first-party, server-side traffic information.
Providing personal information through this website is voluntary. However, if you do not provide information needed to respond to an enquiry or provide a requested service, I may not be able to assist you.
3. Third-Party Services & Newsletter Data
I keep third-party processing to a minimum. Website enquiries, session handling and first-party traffic metrics are processed by the Super Space Goose application rather than through an external CRM or analytics platform.
MailerLite is used to manage newsletter subscriptions and newsletter delivery. If you choose to subscribe, information such as your name and email address is provided to MailerLite for that purpose.
I do not sell or rent your personal information, and information collected through the website is not supplied to advertising networks or behavioural analytics platforms.
Technical infrastructure used to host, deliver and protect the website may process limited request information, such as IP addresses and server connection data, where this is necessary to provide those services.
Some service providers may process or store information outside New Zealand. Where this occurs, I remain responsible for handling personal information in accordance with my obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.
4. Cookies, Sessions & Website Analytics
I do not use advertising pixels, behavioural retargeting cookies, or third-party analytics services to monitor how visitors use this website.
The website uses essential first-party session cookies to support security, form protection, authenticated areas and interactive website features. These session cookies are not used for advertising or cross-site behavioural tracking.
I also collect limited first-party, server-side traffic information to understand basic website usage and help maintain the security and performance of the application. This information is processed by the website itself rather than being sent to an external analytics platform.
Basic technical request information, such as IP address, browser user-agent and request details, may also be recorded as part of normal server operation and security monitoring.
5. How I Protect Your Information
I take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.
Enquiries submitted through the website are stored within the Super Space Goose application rather than being passed to an external CRM service. Access to systems containing personal information is restricted to people who require that access for legitimate business or technical purposes.
No method of internet transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but I use security measures appropriate to the information being handled.
6. How Long I Keep Information
I keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected, or where it needs to be retained for legitimate business, accounting or legal purposes.
Newsletter subscription information is retained while you remain subscribed. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those messages.
7. Your Rights to Access & Correct Information
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you may request access to personal information I hold about you and ask me to correct information that you believe is inaccurate.
You can also contact me if you would like information removed where I no longer need to retain it, or if you would like to change your newsletter preferences. There may be circumstances where information needs to be retained for legal, accounting or other legitimate business reasons.
To make a privacy request, contact me at [email protected] .
8. Privacy Breaches
If a privacy breach occurs, I will assess and respond to it in accordance with my obligations under the Privacy Act 2020, including notifying affected people or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner where required.
9. Changes to This Statement
I may update this Privacy Statement from time to time as the website, services or legal requirements change. The current version will always be published on this page.
